Storms moving into eastern Europe

Thursday
An unstable weather pattern is likely to result in intense thunderstorms forming over southeastern France, northwest Italy and the western Alps, these later extending into southern Germany, parts of Austria, the Czech Republic and Poland. Further showers and local thundery bursts are likely over northern France and the Low Countries.
Meanwhile Spain, Portugal, Italy, Greece and the Mediterranean islands enjoy another hot and sunny day. Some very high temperatures in the southwest of Iberia as air is drawn from the interior of Spain, into the upper 30s Celsius.
High pressure over eastern Europe brings dry weather to Ukraine, Hungary and Slovakia, whilst some showers affect the Baltic states. A few showers too for Norway, Denmark, plus the far north of Scandinavia, but much of Sweden and Finland will be dry.

Friday
Another hot day to come across Spain and Portugal with lots of sunshine, reaching 40C in the southwest. A fine day for south and western France, temperatures nudging 30C on the south coast. Hot across Italy, widely into the 30s Celsius. Reaching the upper 30s in Hungary, mainland Greece and the eastern Balkans as high pressure to east draws in a hot southeasterly airflow.
Thunderstorms will affect the Czech Republic, Slovakia and into Poland, some severe storms forming in places. Cooler and showery for Germany, Denmark and the Low Countries. Showers too for northeast France.
Showery in southwest Norway and a few showers around the Baltic, but much of northern Scandinavia will be dry with temperatures into the low 20s.
