Often Unsettled
Varied Temperatures

Issued: 0530hrs Friday 2nd February 2018
Duty forecaster: Matthew Hugo

Often unsettled, cold in the north, milder in the south and south-east

Friday
Into Friday and it is low pressure that dominates across much of Europe bringing a widespread risk of rain and showers, but with some significant wintry precipitation possible across parts of Denmark, into Germany and particularly up into Scandinavia where it will be very cold. Some significant snowfall is also expected across Alps through the day, while rain and showers dominate across Spain and Portugal, where it will also become particularly cold as well. Heavy rain and showers are expected across Italy, while the best of the conditions are forecast across Greece as high pressure dominates here, along with milder conditions too.

Saturday
Similar conditions continue into Saturday with low pressure certainly the dominant weather type across much of Europe. Rain, sleet and some snow potentially developing across the British Isles, while further snow is expected across parts of Norway, Sweden and Finland where it will be very cold indeed. Low pressure near to Italy maintains a lot of unsettled weather through the Med, with widespread rain and showers, of which will spread into Greece and surrounding countries through the day. Best conditions likely through Spain and Portugal, but even here some showery weather may develop, from the north-west, later in the day.
