Scandinavia stays very warm, some thunder


Tuesday
Heat continues to build actoss the south of Spain and Portugal, reaching 40C inland, aiding by an airflow from the continental interior. Breezy in the north & west of Iberia, and much cooler for the Biscay coast, only 21 to 24C. Largely dry across France, Germany and the Low Countries. A few thunderstorms for eastern France and the Alps. Hot around the French Riviera, into the upper 30s Celsius. Hot and dry for Italy too. Thundery for the inland Balkans and Romania, also western Ukraine. Poland and the Czech Republic mostly dry with isolated thunder, temperatures widely into the 30s. A swathe of heavy and thundery rain affects southern Norway. Scattered showers in Sweden and Finland. Broadly hot across Scandinavia, 27 to 31C even toward the far north as high pressure over northern Russia continues to waft warm air northwards.


Wednesday
Heatwave conditions across south & south-western Europe - topping 40C in south-west Spain and southern Portugal. The south of France and Italy also into the mid to high 30s Celsius. Thunderstorms breaking out over the western Alps, and across the Balkan states. Much of Greece should stay dry. Thundery for Romania, and scattered downpours for the south & east of Poland, also Slovakia and the Czech Republic. Dry across much of France and the Low Countries. Hot and humid for Germany, 27 to 32C, with a few afternoon storms. A few thundery outbreaks for eastern Sweden and southern Finland, where temperatures will reach 30C, but much of Scandinavia will be dry. Fresher for Norway 19 to 25C.
