Widely very warm across Europe


Tuesday
Slack pressure and a hot, humid air mass resides across much of the continent. Temperatures reaching 40C for central & southern Spain, around 37C in Portugal. Locally topping 35C in south-west France. Scattered thunderstorms for northern Spain and the Pyrenees. Isolated showers for central France. Thunderstorms breaking out more widely around the Alps. Sunny and dry for Italy, the Balkans and Greece .
Temperatures widely 28 to 33C across central, east & southern Europe. A weak cold front lies across northern Germany and the southern Baltic, producing a zone of cloud, and outbreaks of thundery rain. To the north of this zone, temperatures are fresher, around 17 to 21C across southern Scandinavia - cooler in the north, with frequent rain for northern Norway. Largely dry around the Baltic, whilst thundery rain clears east into Russia.


Wednesday
Another scorching day across south-western Europe, into mid or upper 30s Celsius for Iberia and southern France. Dry for Portugal. A risk of thunderstorms for east and northern Spain. Scattered thundery showers for southern France, the Alps and northern Italy, whilst southern Italy remains dry. Isolated showers inland for Greece and the Balkans.
Widely hot across the heart of the continent, approaching 30C for many, but feeling fresher for Poland and the Baltic states behind a cold front - which brings thundery rain to parts of Ukraine and Romania. Dry for northern France, the Low Countries and much of Germany. Slack high pressure over western Scandinavia brings a drier day to much of Norway, whilst northern Scandinavia sees a few showers. A cool north-westerly breeze for the Baltic.
